Previous Topic: How did Kit Cloudkicker and Don Karnage meet?

Response: Kit ran away from his hometown and as he was gonna hitch a ride airborne he came across Don Karnage, who invited him in his plane, therefore meeting each other, basically.

Response: I think Kit had the lucky chance of getting caught by the faboulus-type Karnage on a good day. So rather then soak Kit's little elbows, he took him in,yes?

Response: I agree with...uh...about half of the replies here: that they met when Kit tried to steal something of Karnage's, and Karnage was impressed with his audacity. I don't really agree with the plundering meeting, because it doesn't seem very likely that Karnage would have the time to be impressed by a kid -- besides, why would he protect the orphanage (and didn't he run away /before/ they met?).

Hmmm, well, I can see a number of the ideas already posted, in terms of pick pocketing & hijacks. However, try as I might, I just can't get rid the idea of Kit's 'Oliver Twist' scenario......
Beaver [Pulling Kit by the arm down the streets and ringing a large bell]: Boy for sale! Boyyyyy for sale!
Kit: Is this legal?
Beaver: It is in this country. Hello there sir, how can I help you?
Karnage [checking Kit over]: Hmmm, I am in need of a protégé. How's his health? Fast on de feet? Not being too slow in the head eh? ;-)

Response: Kit was orphanned and was drawn to anyone that would give him attention. In this case it was the infamous Don Karnage.

Response: I think that Kit was wanting a family and thought that Karnage and the air pirates were the closest to a family that he could get.

Response: Perhaps one of Kit's parents knew Karnage and asked him to take care of Kit in case something happened to them.

Response: Karnage hijacked a plane that Kit was on. Karnage liked Kit's additude so he convinced Kit to become and air pirate.

Response: Kit and Karnage ran into each other while the pirates were plundering something. Karnage liked Kit's brains and spunk and decided that he would be an excellent protege. Kit being the adventuress type (and lets face it, not having alot else to do) decided to join him.

Response: Kit stowaway on the Iron Vulture and got caught. Karnage was impressed by Kit's bravery so he offered him a position.

Response: As we know (or at least strongly suspect) Kit has lived on the streets
after running away from the orphanage. I think there was one day
where Kit was tired, hungry, and desprate enough to attempt to steal
from Karnage.
I don't think he knew who Karnage was at the time, but DK probably was
so pleased the the gaul of the young cub's daring, that Karnage offered to
take him under his wing.

Response: I think it was on Polly Wants a Treasure. The reason I say that is beacause when Don Karnage got Kit and Kit said Baloo told me not to talk to strangers. Thats what I think.
Webmaster's note: We know Kit knew Don Karnage before the events of Polly Wants a Treasure, because Kit himself was an air pirate before he met Baloo. :-)

Response: Fun Answer: Kit answered a personal ad in the paper reading, "World-famous air pirate seeks protege. Must be willing to deal with smelly crew. Flying lessons available upon negotiation."
Real Answer: I think Kit probably tried to pick Karnage's pocket or something. Some small theft that got Karnage's attention and, rather than get angry at the boy for trying to take his personal property, he was impressed by the kid's spunk. ;-)

Response: I believe that the two meet when Karnage and his Air-Pirates ran sacked the orphanage where Kit was growing up,and all the other kids were scared except for Kit. Karnage then offers Kit a position as a future Air-Pirate based on his courage to stand up to Karnage.

Response: Kit, being an orphan runaway, probably ran into Karnage and his gang
while they were plundering.
To save his hide (and looking for adventure) Kit con'd his way into the
Air Pirates (playing to Karny's ego in the process).

Actually, I think Kit was stowed-away and asleep inside a cargo plane; when the plane suddenly became Karnage's plunder, lo and behold, there was this kid in with the cargo. The rest is history. :-)
(I wonder if that means that Kit is Karnage's stolen property?)

Response: Although opinions differ about the Disney Adventures comic, "FlimFlam Flyboy" (Feb. '92), it *does* suggest one possible theory: that Kit, like the comic's character "Lupo", may have read some kind of pulp novel/comic book which glorified Karnage, and was attracted to DK's adventurism.
